It’s undoubtedly hard and expensive to do. And wireless might be the future. But it also feels muddled, like MS doing mobile pre-iphone. That with AR, VR and constant streaming there’s a market developing and the FCC is about to make it incredibly important to own the ISP. Silicon Valley as a whole is going to be in a whole lot of trouble in just a couple years without net neutrality. It’s not just rural voters that will be held hostage to higher prices and so this threatens the whole global thing because so much of it is US-based.
Google Fiber looks like the big, dumb expensive thing they have to do to secure their future.
