Fantastic observation. One of my concerns with most freelance writing these days is that it replicates the same fungibility that you see in the tech world. Writers are highly replaceable by editorial houses — it’s easy to find people who will write about whatever the scandal or trend of the week is, and do it in about the same way. At the same time, that’s where the money is concentrated.

The flipside of exploring the edges of experience, the taboo, of truly innovating is that the market for it rarely exists, or is currently scattered, or is difficult to reach.
