Yeah, not really winning me over. Sure, Azer was a dick in his response, but it’s entirely valid. You guys could have simply scoped your package using @kik/whatever and bypassed the whole craziness.
The npm folks certainly didn’t help, and have taken the situation to a whole other level of batshit insanity. What was originally a naming dispute has become a referendum on the viability of npm — the public repo, the organization, the people in the organization, the lack of governance, etc.
I’m waiting for npm to announce that they will move to the github model where everything is scoped to an org/username, and thus bypass this entire disaster. Oh, and maybe start adding some hashes/signatures to packages so that one cannot claim a project, then publish the exact same version with completely different contents.
