Earth Day may feel like just another day to you but for these entrepreneurs it means so much more. On this one day all eyes are on the sector they work so hard to benefit and promote year round. Creating a business based on environmental sustainability is more often than not driven by passion rather than profit. Finding creative solutions to benefit the environment may not be as lucrative in the short term but these entrepreneurs have a far broader vision they are working towards. This vision is what inspires these business owners to work hard everyday to make strides in the environmental sector. Now it is up to us to support and recognize these groundbreaking accomplishments.

He may be young but he is driven

Looking towards a brighter future

“When solar companies compete you win.”

Max Aram and Chris Blevins, founders of Pick My Solar, became business partners out of their shared frustration of the inefficiencies they found in the solar panel industry. They found the industry itself to be extremely outdated and unfortunately most customers shied away from the new technology because they couldn’t understand the process and the price point was far too high. Traditional solar energy providers were far too focused on their bottom line until Pick My Solar made its way into the marketplace. The two entrepreneurs have created an online bidding systems were solar companies compete for your business. As entrepreneurs we know it can be difficult to change consumer behaviour. Pick my Solar has ensured all customers have access to this technology at a reasonable cost therefore making this a viable option for users.

The “bag lady” knows best

“I have a strong personal belief that there is value in everything and in everyone.”

The name for the “bag lady” originally came from the fact that Emmie Leung could often be seen walking door to door collecting recycling with her blue bags. She wasn’t afraid to get dirty and take matters into her own hands when her city representatives were not responding. She purchased a truck and got to work. Emmie Leung has a true understanding of her company as she originally filled every role. She grew Emterra Group from one employee to a Canadian leader in waste resources management. This companies dedication to recycling and waste reduction is getting world renowned recognition and for good reason.
