First off, I whole-heartedly agree with this article. Last year, I discovered the TV show Jane the Virgin. This show follows a hispanic woman as the main character in a female dominated family. I loved how I finally found a show that felt like my family, as I come from a matriarchal hispanic family myself. I also admittedly cried the first time I saw Elena, the first hispanic Disney princess, because I would have loved that as a kid. I think representation is so vital to have viewers connect to the media they consume. Unfortunately, stereotypes are a huge limitation of that.
