“Love”, a word cheapened…
Akin to adulterated wine sweetened…effects weakened.
How the mighty have fallen from grace;
A word lofty reduced to the base.
How many times has the word crossed the lips of the ill-intentioned?
To get maidens to a state of undress, to lie between bed sheets?
A word paraded for machinations of the lay without redress…
From the mouths of every lecherous Tom, Dick, Harry, and Larry;
How the essence of the word is sullied, as the lewd sallied forth to partake in carnal pleasures.
A word said on caprice,
Far removed from what it used to be or mean.
