I agree that teaching students how to set up a platform, like Blogger, WordPress, or even Tumblr can be invaluable, but only when a significant portion of the lesson is dedicated to the platform itself. I’m a huge WordPress geek and could go on for hours and hours about how much I love it — WordPress as a platform has certainly been invaluable to me.

My experience has been that most teachers and technology coaches ignore the “teachable moment” that is the platform and simply misuse it leaving countless student blogs to do nothing but collect cyber dust.
