Let’s Squat!-In Virtual Reality
Bodybuilding.com’s article ‘How to Squat: Proper Techniques For a Perfect Squat’ would be stronger as a VRSE app. Imagine being able to have someone right there next to you, helping you build those glutes.
Squatting is a compound exercise that engages multiple muscles at once. It seems like a simple exercise but with a bar on your back and no spotter (someone to assist you) it is much harder, and injury is highly likely if your form is incorrect.
The article explains in great detail how to properly squat and has pretty good visuals. However, the article is very long. Not many people spend more than a minute on a web page — people want a quick fix. But what if the reader could be taken right to the gym without actually leaving their home?
For this project, readers would have to be able to put the virtual reality set on their head. From there they would taken to a gym with a squat rack before their eyes. A person to spot (watch the user’s form) would also be available in the virtual reality verse. As the user goes to squat, the person watching (a coach via Bodybuilding.com) would critique their form. They would check to see if their knees are not passing the toes, and that the user is engaging their muscles correctly. The article gives step by step instructions, but reading and actually doing it are two different things.
With the use of virtual reality, the story would be a lot stronger. Readers would have a better idea of how to squat if the person were there with them.
The only resources I would need is a virtual reality set which would take me to the Bodybuilding verse. I feel that this will make people more confident to execute the exercise once they step in the gym. They will be less intimidated and reduce their risk of injury.
Happy Squatting!
