Thanks for posting this. I’ve shared it with a lot of people who can relate to the strategy vs. service dilemma. The truth is, internal communications teams will always have to find a balance, and my team’s goal is to improve the strategy-service ratio. While part of the solution needs to come from nonprofit execs (setting clear priorities, giving comms a seat at the table during strategic planning, and recognizing the role of comms when something goes well), communications professionals need to demonstrate their value, show results, and earn the trust and respect of their colleagues.
