Instead of “Engineers don’t like meetings,” I think it’s actually “people who like to get things done, don’t want to spend time talking about anything except how to get things done better, faster, or easier.”

So it’s what that engineer expects that meeting is going to be about, so yes, it’s critical to get buy in from the engineers. An engineer calls a meeting for vastly different reasons than anyone else.
