Sorry, I realize your original post is over a year and half old. I had my account deactivated over a week ago for “pretending to be someone else” which is crazy — I’ve had this account for nearly 7 years and only posted things from my own life. Here are the things I’ve tried from your post:

  1. I went through the appeal process on the app, but when it comes time to upload a picture, I just get taken right back to the login screen again. I am not able to submit the form without the picture, as you did, though. If I press send to submit, it highlights my country (which had erased, even though I typed it in), and highlights the section where I need a picture. It won’t let me get any further. So I again reenter the country (I don’t seem to have an option as you had, it’s a space where I need to type in “USA” or “United States of America” (I’ve tried both ways) but it always erases when I press the “Choose file” or “Send” options. I would very happily send them the proof they want, but it’s not letting me attach anything!
  2. This is my personal account, so I was not able to login with that and report a problem.
  3. I’ve tweeted at @instagram nearly every day requesting help. No response or acknowledgement.
  4. I’ve sent a DM through Facebook to the Instagram account. They gave me a warning that Instagram takes over a week to reply. I am still waiting, 8 days later.
  5. I tried posting to the Facebook Community page. Still no response.
  6. I’ve tried emailing support@instagram.com and got an auto-response saying “You’ve reached us at a channel that we no longer support. Please visit the Help Center to find answers to many frequently asked questions and up-to-date forms you can use to contact us: http://help.instagram.com/ We apologize for the inconvenience.”
  7. I have been through the Help Center many, many times. It just tells me to go through the app, which, as mentioned in #1, doesn’t do anything for me. :/
  8. I filled in feedback in the Help Center (Did this answer help you? I would press no and “this solution doesn’t work for me.”) nearly every single day. Still no response.
  9. I signed your petition and retweeted your petition tweet today :)

I even went through the Help Center and found the link about “What if someone is impersonating me?” and clicked on that. The things that they need to submit to prove that someone is impersonating them is very lengthy and I am wondering how they got an evidence as my account is private. I do get a lot of DMs from people asking me to delete my account so that they can take my username instead :/ and almost daily I was getting emails from Instagram saying that a password reset was requested, when I never requested one, which tells me that for some time people have been trying to get my account. I can’t understand though how they would send in proof that I was impersonating them, that they have full rights to my username (which is just a single name, not like my username is selenagomez or something), when I’ve had this account since Instagram started. It’s just that I am fully willing to prove that it’s my account but I just am not able to upload or even email the proof, as emails don’t work and DMs are going unanswered. Sorry, I know there’s probably nothing you can really do about it but just wanted to let you know that I tried the steps in your post and I thank you for offering those suggestions. Does anyone else have suggestions on what I could try? Thank you!
