MANSLAUGHTER? NO, THIS IS MURDER

Botham Jean’s life ended on Thursday, September 6, 2018. A police officer shot him in his home, which she thought was her apartment. The name of the officer has not been released. She was not arrested at the scene of the crime. She was placed on leave while an investigation took place. Later, a warrant for manslaughter was then issued.
MANSLAUGHTER? Manslaughter would be a plea bargain at best in this murder investigation. If a civilian had shot this man, an arrest would have been made at the crime scene. What if the victim had shot her when she entered his home? We all know where he would be: in jail and on the front page of every newspaper in this country.
Dallas Police Department declines answers and claims that they are still investigating the case. This is a smart decision; gives the authorities time to make up a believable story. They did mention that a blood test was conducted, however, to test for drugs and alcohol.
There is NO STORY that is acceptable though. A woman who swore to uphold the law murdered a man on Thursday night. That is THE STORY. A young man’s life was taken. Family and friends are heartbroken and destroyed emotionally by her action. This man is dead. This is MURDER. It does not matter if she thought it was her apartment or if she was drunk or high. THIS IS MURDER. Her life was in no danger. There is nothing that can justify what happened. Please keep silent Dallas Police Department. There is no statement that can make this okay. Charge your officer for the crime that she committed. THIS IS MURDER.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Botham Jean. This is a sad, unacceptable, and unfortunate incident. This is NOT “a very unique situation” as Police Chief U. Renee Hall called it. I pray that the victim’s loved ones eventually find their peace.
