Safari — Declutter your screen when reading online articles

I read plenty of articles online. Whether it be professional learning or catching up on a news site, the one thing I find distracting is the amount of ads, flashing boxes and other bits and pieces that seem to do everything but allow you the opportunity to read the article undisturbed!

The Reader View feature in Safari will declutter the screen and remove all those irrelevant bits and pieces. Additionally, if you want to print a hard copy or PDF of the article, doing this while Reader View is enabled is really handy too.

Where do I find the Reader View icon?

If Safari thinks that the page you are accessing is an article, the Reader View icon will appear in the address bar. Simply click on this icon to show Reader View.

The Reader View pops up on the left-hand side of the address bar in Safari

Something to consider: Reader View only works for articles, not general webpages. Make sure you have opened the article and that you are not waiting for the Reader View icon to appear on just the homepage.
