1. Underwater Museum of Art in Cancun

As if contemporary art weren’t already weird enough, Cancun is home to an art museum that is located entirely underwater! The exhibit is made up of over 500 sculptures that bring attention to environmental conservation issues. Scuba diving and snorkelling are the most popular ways to view the collection, but you can also catch the action on a tour from a glass-bottomed boat.

2. Chez Galip Hair Museum in Turkey

The Chez Galip Hair Museum in Cappadocia, Turkey houses a collection of over 16,000 locks of human hair that line the walls from ceiling to floor. The story goes that the Chez Galip, the owner of a guest house, was saying goodbye to a visitor when she gave him a lock of hair to remember her by. This woman turned out to be a trendsetter because hundreds and hundreds of visiting women began to follow suit. This collection became a museum which today holds a place in the Guinness World Book of Records.

3. The Museum of Bad Art in Massachusetts

According to the Museum of Bad Art’s website, the collection includes everything from “the work of talented artists that have gone awry to works…by artists barely in control of the brush.” If you’re visiting Massachusetts, then take a gander and support some local bad artists. 4. BATA Shoe Museum in Toronto

Toronto’s Bata Shoe museum showcases thousands of wonderfully weird pairs of shoes. Highlights include John Lennon’s famous Beatle boots, exquisite Louboutins that look straight off the runway, and tiny Chinese lotus shoes used to bind women’s feet in ancient times.

5. The Museum of Broken Relationships in Croatia

The Museum of Broken Relationships in Zagreb, Croatia is exactly what is sounds like. Valentine’s cards, photographs and movie stubs kept from crumbled past relationships fill the exhibits. The collection is intended to be funny, sad, thought-provoking and therapeutic all at once. The museum is so popular that it also opened up a location in Los Angeles in June 2016!

6. The Sulabh International Museum of Toilets in Delhi

This museum in Delhi, India displays toilets dating back to as far as 1145 CE, from every corner of the world. Discover all sorts of wacky and weird commodes — from ornately decorated European toilets once owned by royalty, to toilets camouflaged as bookshelves and treasure chests.

7. The Salt and Pepper Shaker Museum in Tennessee

Collecting salt and pepper shakers started off as a hobby for the museum’s founder Andrea Ludden. But when her husband got fed up with all the hundreds of shakers in their house, she began to envision bigger things for her pet project. Today, the Tennessee museum houses over 20,000 pairs of shakers in all sorts of shapes and sizes.
