One of the saddest goodbyes is that of having to say goodbye to your verandah for the winter season which isn’t short enough to not miss your verandah.

After summer’s well spent days of using your verandah it is quite saddening to have to stay indoors for the entire winter period even though you have a bit of indoors and the outdoors in the form of a beautiful verandah.

A verandah should be accessible and usable throughout the year without having to cancel those perfect plans just because it is too chilly outside.

Your verandah does not need to be limited to being usable only in the summer and you can get your verandah winter-ready by using the helpful tips listed below:

Bring in the warmth:

The primary reason of abandoning your verandah during the winter is the unbearable cold; however this primary reason can be removed by bringing in some warmth into your outdoor living space.

Outdoor heating resources are a good way to bring in that warmth and create a much more comfortable atmosphere in your outdoor living space even amidst the cruel cold.

Although it is important to make sure that the outdoor heating resources are safe for your home and property.

Patio heaters and outdoor fire places are some common preferences of outdoor heating facilities used. While some patio heaters are powered by electricity, few people prefer those that work on natural gas that can be placed on the floor or even a small table that is close by to your seating arrangements in your verandah.

One of the reasons electrical patio heaters are preferred is because it is attached just below the roof that helps the heat to be directed below to those sitting in the outdoor space.

Outdoor fireplaces are an alternate heating option and are available in various sizes to suit different requirements; a few are even small enough to be placed at the centre of a table in the middle of the outdoor living space.

Outdoor fireplaces can be work on fuel, wood or natural gas to provide heat and is an excellent option for those that love the outdoor bonfire feel.

Keep out the cold with outdoor blinds

Outdoor blinds provide additional shelter to your outdoor living space.

Outdoor blinds are a good way to ensure that the heating stays within the confined space and doesn’t escape out into the open.

It also prevents the cold air from getting in keeping the place warm. They are made from clear PVC, durable fabrics or fine mesh and can be manually or electrically operated. It is best used when installed in the front and at the sides of the verandah.

Add some light and life:

Winters are usually the gloomiest parts of the year and can seem rather dull especially on those extra chilly days.

Adding some lighting to your outdoor living space can be exceptionally good for the winter as it not only provides a brighter atmosphere but even radiates a bit of warmth from the light.

The right lighting in a verandah is bound to lift spirits and make a rather dull winter day seem much more joyful and bright. Adding a bit of life to your verandah is also a good way to make your verandah seem much more inviting during winters.

Opting for bright décor, bright coloured lamps, pretty plants or colourful cushions can take away the dullness and boredom of the winter.

Your verandah doesn’t not need to be limited to a certain look or décor and changing it up a bit during winter by getting your verandah winter ready can help you use your outdoor space to its fullest potential and help you enjoy the winters a little better by being able to enjoy the warmth and life of your indoors in your outdoor living space. So go ahead and make your verandah winter-ready by giving it a winter themed make over.
