Villijoali, August 26, 2016
Villijoali is an initiative by the volunteers of Villimale Unit, MRC Male’ Branch. This initiative was launched on 19th August 2016, Friday.
Volunteers move to “joali spots” in the island and hold conversations with members of the community.
Today is the second day of the Villijoali project, and volunteers went out and met with 3 persons today. Volunteers listened to and recorded their stories and engaged in conversation to understand the psychosocial dynamics of the community that make up Villimale, the fifth ward of the capital city of Maldives, Male’.
Thus far, volunteers have been in conversation with 6 persons including 2 expatriates, 2 retirees, and an enterprising mother, teacher, student. We have learnt much from these conversations and they have given an insightful window into the lives of the people who make up the Villimale Community. We hope to further enhance this understanding through expanding our conversations and interactions through our engagements with the community on Fridays, and further interventions that are planned for the coming days.
