is applying knowledge a lost chain in modern education?

It’s the best of the times to learn something but it seems it’s also a very challenging time to apply and to use whatever that you learned what gets in the way exactly and how we can overcome this problem.
Reading something or watching a video is mostly a passive act so of course, it’s easier to consume a big load of information it’s easier to read a book on building a boat than to build it.
One other reason that we don’t apply most of the things that we learn is consciously or subconsciously a lot of our learning projects are just curiosity-based we don’t always learn for the sake of its practical value we just like to know how things are on how things work we just feel or think we need a certain set of information and because it’s there most of the time for free there is not much that can hold us back.
Using knowledge doesn’t necessarily come right after we consumed information sometimes we learn something just to know enough about it so so if it was ever needed.
To learn more and apply if we are not complete beginners and we know the basic.
A good criterion for the application of knowledge in solving problems we usually learn is to add a skill to our skillset so if we can find the problem that we care about that is where we can see ourselves improve in the practical aspect of a subject.
