Is your Samsung mobile experiencing problems like a boot loop, dead phone, soft brick, or black screen? If that’s the case, it might be time to update the Samsung’s firmware. In this section, we’ll troubleshoot and repair your Android phone or tablet. We’ll be using the Odin flash tool to perform a manual installation of Samsung firmware.

Frequently, Samsung will distribute official firmware updates over-the-air (OTA) (over-the-air). Because this update is being distributed region by region, it will typically take some time before it is available everywhere. Most importantly, the over-the-air (OTA) update does not immediately reach all Samsung phones. The most important factors that will determine when your most recent Android update will become available are the regions you live in and the network carrier you use.

Users are forced to seek out customised ROMs, kernels, and mods as a result of this. Users frequently install unofficial custom ROMs on their devices so that they can experience and benefit from the most recent Android update. However, because this is a potentially dangerous process, there is a chance that they will end up bricking their phone or getting stuck in a boot loop issue. In such a scenario, the only solution is to use Odin to install the Samsung firmware on the device.

This can provide you with instant assistance in returning to your device. A computer running Windows, the most recent version of the Odin tool, and a regular USB cable are all that are required in order to install Samsung firmware using Odin. That sums it up nicely! You can quickly recover the Samsung phone using these relatively straightforward tools. Let’s get familiar with the Odin tool before we begin using it to install Samsung’s firmware on your device.

What is Odin, exactly?

Odin Downloader, also known as Odin flash tool, is a Samsung firmware flashing tool that is compatible with Windows OS. It is utilised in the process of manually updating Samsung Galaxy devices with Official Stock firmware. In addition, you can use Odin to restore the default factory settings on your Samsung phone, unroot and unbrick your device, and remove any custom software that may have been installed. You can also use Odin to manually downgrade or upgrade the firmware on your device to the most recent version of Android. This can be done in either direction.

It is a one-click tool that runs on Windows that Samsung employs in order to install.tar and.tar.md5 files that are in the Stock ROM format, kernels, CF-Auto-Root, TWRP recovery, and other similar files. At first, only company employees were allowed to use this software for testing purposes within the company. They never made it available on an official level to the end user. On the other hand, it became public after being shared on the internet. The community of developers working on Android now provides consistent support for it.

Before we begin the process of installing Samsung firmware using Odin, you should first check to see if the update has already been wirelessly delivered to your device. If it has, then we can move on to the next step. When an over-the-air (OTA) update is available, you will typically be notified of its availability. If this is not the case, check the Samsung OTA status by navigating to Menu > Settings > Software update in the main menu. If you want to restore your device to its factory settings, follow our simple step-by-step guide on installing Samsung firmware using Odin Multi Downloader. This will allow you to revert back to the original stock ROM.

Requirements

You will need a computer that runs Windows as well as a USB cable that is standard for Samsung devices.

This process will use up some of the battery on your device. As a result, before continuing, check that the battery on your phone is fully charged.
Create a backup of all of your important data, including your contacts, messages, applications, call logs, and notes, etc. Because this procedure involves the complete destruction of everything, this step is absolutely necessary.
Enable USB Debugging mode from your mobile settings.
(Optional) Disable for the time being the computer’s antivirus software and any other security tools.

Odin Samsung Firmware Installation Guide

Follow the detailed instructions in order to successfully flash the Samsung Stock firmware using the Odin tool.

Step 1: Install Samsung USB Driver on your Windows PC

Installing mobile-specific USB Drivers is necessary in order for your personal computer to recognise your Samsung Galaxy Device when it is connected to it via a USB cable.
Your computer will not be able to recognise the Samsung device that is connected to it if you do not have a USB driver installed, which will cause the Odin process to fail.
You should have received a Samsung Kies CD at the time of purchase; you can use this CD to install the necessary drivers. You also have the option to manually install them by following the link provided below:

2. Get the most recent version of Odin for your computer.

Here is the most recent version of Odin3 available for download: Odin3 v3.13.1.
Please be aware that the new Samsung Galaxy phones are the only ones compatible with the latest Odin tool.
However, there could be connectivity issues with older Samsung devices.
Therefore, it is imperative that you acquire and deploy the most suitable Odin tool for your gadget.

Step 3: Download Samsung Firmware File

Samsung Stock ROM can be found at official sites like Sammobile and Updato, or with the help of the SamFirm tool.
However, it is risky to download the firmware from an unknown website because it could have been altered to contain malware or a virus.
If you’re confused about where to find the latest Samsung firmware, this article should help:

Step 4: Extract the Firmware Zip File

  • Right-click the downloaded Samsung firmware and extract it into a specific folder on your computer.
  • You’ll have the following files in the extracted folder:
These files should have ‘.tar’ or ‘.tar.md5’ extension.

Step 5: Boot Samsung Galaxy Phone into Download Mode

  • To begin using Odin to install Samsung firmware, your phone must first be restarted into downloading mode.
  • Turning off your phone is the first step.
  • Press and hold the volume down button, power button, and home button until the phone vibrates.
  • As soon as you see the warning message, put down all the keys.
  • Press the Volume Up button now.
  • This will put the Samsung device you’re using into download mode when it boots up.
  • Take note that in order to boot into download mode, every Samsung device will require a different combination of keys to press.
  • Simply conduct a search on Google to locate the buttons that correspond to your specific
  • device (for example Galaxy S6 Download Mode).

Step 6: Connect your Samsung phone to your computer

Connect the phone to the computer via a standard USB cable while maintaining the doawnload mode on the device.

Step 7: Launch Odin Multi Downloader

  • Open the downloaded Odin flash tool.
  • As soon as you launch it, the ID: COM section located at the top left corner will turn light blue.
  • Also an Added message will appear in the message box window.
  • This will confirm that your Samsung Galaxy device is successfully connected to the computer.
  • If such a thing doesn’t happen, install the USB drivers again or change the USB cable or USB port.
  • It the problem persists, that means you’ve a USB connection problem in your PC. To fix this issue, refer to our guide:
  • Moreover, check the Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time options.

IMPORTANT! Do not tick the Re-partition option as it might brick your device. Don’t use the PIT tab either.

Step 8: Add Samsung firmware files to Odin

  • It will be necessary for us to add tar.md5 firmware files one at a time in the Odin tool if we wish to install Samsung firmware using Odin.
  • Odin’s primary interface comprises four buttons labeled BL, AP, CP, and CSC.
Bootloader (BL), Android Partition (AP), Modern Firmware (CP), and Consumer Software Customization (CSC) are all abbreviations for different types of software.
  • To begin, you need to press the BL button. After that, navigate to where the firmware package file is stored, and select it using the BL prefix.
  • Similarly, add the CP, AP, and HOME_CSC files from the firmware package. The AP file will take little time to load.
  • Make sure you choose the HOME_CSC, and not CSC file.
  • This is because the Normal CSC contains an instruction that allows Odin to wipe out complete data while HOME_CSC contains instruction to only allow wipe of cache. But when a downgrade is done (example: from Oreo back to Nougat) a factory reset is a must. So use normal CSC at that time.
  • At last, you can add the USERDATA file, if it is present in the firmware package, else skip this step.

Step 9: Begin the Samsung firmware flashing process

  • After putting all the firmware files in the Odin flash tool, let’s start installing Samsung firmware using Odin.
  • You just need to press the Start button on the Odin tool to do that.
  • This will start the process of installing the Samsung Stock ROM itself.
  • Be patient and wait until everything is done.
  • The flashing of the firmware will take a few minutes to finish.
  • As the process continues, your phone will start up on its own.

IMPORTANT! Don’t take the gadget away from your computer.

  • If you unplug the phone or close the Odin tool during the flashing process, something bad might happen.

Step 10: Finish the process of flashing the firmware

  • Upon completion, the ID: COM section will turn green with a message ‘Pass’ on it.
  • Here’s how to use the Odin tool to update your Samsung firmware.
  • The phone will restart itself anyway.
  • You can now safely unplug your phone from the computer and remove the USB cable.
  • Don’t panic if Odin freezes or stops responding, or if your phone enters an endless boot loop. Simply exit Odin, restart your device in download mode, and start over.

Conclusion

Finally! Follow these steps to update your Samsung device with the most recent firmware using Odin Multi Downloader (also known as Odin Flash Tool). Use the space below to ask any questions you might have about this manual. Many thanks!
