Don’t Believe the Hype on Milwaukee: It’s Never “Just a Riot.”

I think racism is a pervasive systemic form of trauma. However I think a riot only solidifies prejudices rightly or wrongly. When someone is traumatized and being black in America can be traumatizing; often times there can be a generalized response regardless of the specific situation. In Milwaukee the police officer was black., the young man was carrying a gun and would not drop it. Does not the policeman’s black life matter too or is he merely a tool of the white system? Although trauma can be inflicted in a broad systemic way, I think it can only be healed in an individual way. It’s time for all of us black, white, policemen to be less reactive and do all we can do to heal ourselves.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
