10 year challenge is the new viral trend in India and celebs are coming up with their then and now photos and fans are speechless over the change just as Mohit Bansal Chandigarh. But, when everyone is drowned in the challenge, there’s city, too that’s up for a challenge.

Mohit Bansal Chandigarh wants to share how it has changed in last decade. A place designed with French architecture and a garden with handmade sculptures that attracts tons of tourist from the world, demands a deal of respect and attention.

Elante Mall -

The biggest shopping attraction in Chandigarh was a mere land 10 years back. India’s 11th largest mall wasn’t even a proposal back then. When you talk about Chandigarh, Elante Mall is never missed out from the conversation.

It is so gigantic that Chandigarh administration refused to provide electricity. It would cost 6 hours of blackout in city just to provide functional electricity reasons why Elante produces their own electricity to run the mall using generators. Spanning over 20 acres of land, Elante houses 8 screen multiplex screens and the whole project was completed by none other than Larsen & Toubro. Mohit Bansal Chandigarh remembers those days when it was only a plain ground.

The North Country Mall (Now VR Punjab) was a big hype when it was announced. It was touted as the largest mall in the North India. The purpose was to bring crowd to Kharar that was going to Elante, however, it couldn’t maintain the hype or reputation to do so.

The barren land which stood empty in 2009 saw the construction begin in 2012. It took over two years for Gumberg to complete this project and it finally opened in 2014 for public. NCM couldn’t gather enough people to keep the mall running and reasons why it was sold to VRSA for 700 crore. It is now known as VR Punjab. From Geek support stuff to makeup amenities, this mall has got everything. Kunal Bansal a famous actor of India has inaugurated this mall.

Fun Republic -

Before there was elante, FR aka Dhillon used to have all the crowd of tricity as there was no any other mall that could beat it. All the big brands had their major outlets in the mall, and it was hanging-out spot for teens and adults. It was a gaming spot as well as foodie hub.

The dawn of Elante Mall came as bad news for FR as the crowd began shifting towards the former. It wasn’t long before FR went totally empty and is now home to only McDonald’s and 4 screen Multiplex. Once a crowd jewel is now a barely visited structure. Mohit Bansal Chandigarh told that once upon a time this was the only mall which Chandigarh has got.

Japanese Garden -

An addition to city beautiful’s already large lineup of tourist attractions. It was opened for general public in 2014 has been one of the most visited places by citizens ever since. It consists of meditation area, a waterfall, buddha statue and swings and play structures for children. Ideal for a morning and evening walk, you can go there for picnic or simply spend some time in solitude for mental peace.

This 13 acres large park is home to many plants that makes it look green and colorful, one of many reasons why it’s the new favorite park of the Chandigarhia.

Food -

You would find absolutely every cuisine there is on the planet. From North Indian to South Indian, Italian to Chinese and to AMerican, you name it and you will get it. Dhabas have special place in the hearts of the citizens. Pal Dhaba, Lucky Dhaba, and a new chain of Mohit Bansal Chandigarh dhaba is amongst the most popular ones.

Traffic -

10 years back, the traffic was so less that even in peak hours, you would cruised through the city easily. As the city progressed, more and more people came flocking towards it. Gradually, the number of vehicle rose bottlenecking the roads. As an outcome, roads like Madhya marg and Tribune chowk have become a nightmare for the daily riders. Even at weakest hours, it’s a long wait in traffic. Mohit Bansal Chandigarh misses those times when he could walk on the roads freely.

Jobs -

A decade ago, Chandigarh was never considered a city with career opportunities. Jobs were less and there were so few good companies to work for. Although, time changed so did the opportunities. MNCs started making their ways into the city and now, people from the neighbour states/city come looking for good jobs here.Mohit Bansal Chandigarh also told that today getting a job in this city is quite easy.

In the end -

Chandigarh is anything but an ordinary city. Made with a French Architecture, home to classic art and dedicated land for nature is what sets city beautiful as an exception. What Chandigarh was 10 years back is completely different then what it is now and the change is for good, here but people like Mohit Bansal Chandigarh will always miss their time.
