Honestly speaking, I am not too sure of blockchain disrupting any consumer sectors anytime soon (1–2 years). The whole infrastructure was designed with the context of financial institutions in mind and it’s now that we are thinking of more use cases beyond currencies.

I think, the basis for blockchain consumer applications will be a browser-like platform that will allow developers to build and distribute their decentralized apps (dApps). There are companies working on that browser-like platform (e.g., Brave browser, Blockstack). These platforms will provide the infrastructure on top of which something could be built.

That aside, there are several ideas like this and this that could be categorised in the consumer space.
