British millionaires who used lover boy method to lure victims and produce adult films under arrest

The “Loverboy” method is a tactic used by traffickers to lure and groom potential victims, often underage girls, into the sex trade. The trafficker presents themselves as a romantic interest to the victim, gaining their trust and then using it to manipulate and control them. British millionaires Andrew and Tristan Tate, detained by prosecutors in Bucharest on charges of human trafficking and rape, are alleged to have set up an organised criminal group which recruited, exploited and forced women to make pornographic material.

These were then sold on websites, says a statement from the Inspectorate General of Police.

From these activities, the two allegedly obtained large sums of money.

According to the police, the two allegedly used the lover boy method: victims were recruited by British citizens who misled them into thinking that they wanted a marriage/cohabitation relationship and that they had real feelings of love for them.

The women would then be transported and taken to properties in Ilfov county where, through acts of physical violence and psychological coercion (intimidation, constant surveillance, control and the allegation of debts), they would be sexually exploited by the members of the group. The pornographic videos were then sold online.
