The charm of childhood nostalgia…

Many of us conjure the past as this rosy, idealized time when everything worked just fine. For us, nostalgia reflects a yearning for simpler times sans the worry and complexities which abound adulthood. Those bittersweet memories act as solace in times of loneliness which helps us to believe in the perceived connectedness with others.

We’ve all felt it. A chance glimpse of a TV commercial from our childhood or looking at the pictures and videos recorded by our ever-excited parents, and our mind inevitably takes us on a stroll down the memory lane. Nostalgia is one of the most evocative moments felt by humans. In a country like India, people we’re still a part of the millennial generation even after years of the technology revolution. It was the last generation that had a childhood without such a pervading influence of technology. And maybe this is the primary reason we remember so clearly when we revisit that aisle of memories.

Are these feelings flowing like a river?

Looking at those photos with the date of picture imprinted on them in yellow and red, feeble and tender yet reminding us of that glorious past. Smiles and Emotions so genuine, like you discovered your own religion. The religion to live whole-heartedly. When feelings and sentiments such as love and compassion were not limited to books. When your happiness was your existence. What happened to that? Forgot to even glance at that memory lane in this fast-moving reckless world? Too busy to even look at those photo albums which are cherishing and safeguarding your purity and innocence? Look at them today and feel the innocence in you. Who said you grew old? You think you’re in control of it. You’re still the same as you are in those images. You’ve just been successful at masquerading the brilliant act of sagaciousness.

Let there be a new evolution of time and space. Take your memories and fill your heart with life, blooming ever so great. Keep them safe. Keep them alive. Close your eyes and sleep. Ignore all the burdens you keep.
