All About Non Surgical Facial Rejuvenation

Cosmetic surgery is a one-way ticket with a lot of risk factors involved. People don’t realise that once a surgery is done, it is difficult to undo it. It’s better to go for something which is reversible and something which gives exact results as a cosmetic surgery sans all the risk factors involved- a non-surgical facial rejuvenation.
There are mainly four types of non-surgical facelift procedures:
Botox:
Botox or botulinum toxin is a neuro toxic protein which is produced by a bacteria Clostridium botulinum. This neuro toxin is diluted to optimum concentration and injectedinto the facial muscles. Most popularly, Botox is used for the treatment of fine lines and wrinkles in the muscles which are always moving. For example, eyes, lips, forehead and cheek muscles are always in motion as they are used to form facial expressions. Botox works by blocking the calcium channels in the injected muscles and as a result muscle contraction is reduced. Due to calcium channel blockage, the neurotransmitter acetylcholine synthesis is also stopped which further aids in the muscular contraction.
Dermal Fillers:
Dermal fillers or hyaluronic acid fillers are used to provide the base and support the lines and muscles of the face which don’t have much movement. Fillers are also used to fill the lines that are formed due to the breakdown of collagen and hyaluronic acid due to natural degradation. Fillers are made up of collagen and hyaluronic acid which is the smallest sub unit of collagen.
Facial Thread or Thread Lift:
A threadlift is known as one of the most discreet facelift procedures. This procedure utilises biodegradable and absorbable sutures, which are inserted into the face. These threads lift and tighten the skin of the areas like cheek, jowls and neck. Small cones are attached with the threads which help to lift the skin of the affected areas. Thread lift procedure set off a low level of inflammation which not only stimulates cell turn over, it also stimulates the synthesis of collagen inside the skin.
Lasers:
There are different types of lasers with different wavelengths which are used to treat different types of skin conditions. For example, carbon di oxide laser is used for acne scars while the non-ablative laser is used for exfoliating the top most layer of the skin. IPL (Intensive pulse Light) is another form of a laser which is used for many different purposes.
Advantages of non-surgical facial rejuvenation:
There are no free lunches in the world; everything has advantages and disadvantages. But the advantages of non-surgical facial rejuvenation far outweigh the disadvantages. One of the biggest advantages of this type of procedure is that you can reverse back your skin by several years without undergoing a major or even a minor surgery. The chances of mortality or morbidity are far lesser as compared to surgical procedures.
If you have the needle phobia, even then you don’t need to worry. The cosmetologist applies local an aesthesia before and after the procedure to eliminate the pain. A creamis applied to the treated areas to reduce inflammation and bruising.
Non-surgical rejuvenation procedure is commonly called as lunch-time procedures. The reason is that they require minimal to no down time. You can go to your cosmetologist during lunch break, get the procedure done and go about your business again after the procedure. No one will get the inkling that you took a listing procedure, but they sure will notice that you are looking younger and more vibrant. These procedures are relatively more economical than surgical procedures.
Things to consider before going for a procedure:
Non-surgical procedures need to be titrated according to the requirements. It means that it may not work on all patients. It may not work on all patients in exactly the same manner. If a 70 years old woman wants to look like her 40 years old self that is pretty much impossible. But a 50 years old well-maintained woman can look like her 40 years old self after the non-surgical procedures. These procedures are temporary; Botox lasts for 4–6 months, facial threads last for one and a half year to two years. Basically, you have to go for a touch up after 18 to 24 months.
