HOW LIFE SUCKS

A vague and vast title. What to include when there are so things to include? School makes life suck. Work makes life suck. People can make life suck – and people can be very good at doing so. Society makes life suck as well. It’s easier, in this day and age, to be someone you aren’t rather than who you really are. Eternally accepted for someone you’re not but forever unhappy for it.

So why do all these things make life more of a miserable chore rather than something you want to get up in the morning for? In fairness, the answer is different for everyone.

Everyone comes from different backgrounds and places with different ways and faces.

See, the main problem of everything in the universe is that no one seems able to accept that there are other humans beings out there and that those human beings will just be different to themselves. Many of us are told from a young age that everyone is individual and that is what makes people beautiful so why is that logic lost in the buildings of government and the minds of many people? Maybe it’s because our society would rather you fitted in than stand out because a generation who are pressurised to fit criteria are more easier to control. Society can just say, “Do this and you’ll be liked,” and suddenly it’s the major trend.

Take the ice bucket challenge for example. I wonder how many of those people taking part knew that is was for ALS but did it because everyone else was. We humans; we like following because leading is one of the scariest things in the world. And that’s why life sucks.

Our leaders are generally big corporate businesses wanting us to buy their products, beauty standards and grades over what is in our hearts.

School – get good grades if you want to succeed. Those good grades apply to everyone – if you’re not getting an A, regardless of your situation, then plan for future failure in life we are told. That sucks. Not everyone can achieve an A in everything – some people have disadvantages that stop them from being able to. Some people are simply passionate about other stuff. Nobody is good at everything. I love writing, but I’m stuck doing so much homework and studying that having a moment to do the thing I really love only comes at the weekend. And it sucks that it only gets more tough in the future. If I follow convention, I’ll have less time doing what I love for the sake of an education that doesn’t deem writing as important as homework even if it means I’m happy.

So, welcome to Earth. A place where being grounded through the education system and society shouldn’t wear you down or dampen your mental state in any way. It should make you be glad to be alive. Not that it sucks!
