My name is Molly McAndrews and I am a Public Relations Major from River Forest, Illinois.

As a student, I recently decided to switch to the Diederich School of Communications because I was unsure of what I wanted to study last year. I decided on Public Relations after taking PURE 1800 because I loved the class and how the professor used real life stories and examples from running his own PR firm in Milwaukee.

One thing that I am not looking forward to in school is the fact that I will have to enroll in a math class soon. I wish that I could skip that part more than anything because it is a weakness of mine and I would much rather take more classes in my own major.

I felt engaged and excited in my PURE 1800 class because I started to be passionate about an area of study after getting by with core curriculum courses. It was a positive moment for me because I began to feel more confident in my education and got excited about where it will take me after I graduate.

I think that teachers think I am quiet sometimes but someone who is there to learn and pay attention. Some classes, like philosphy and theology, I tend to sit and take notes but not participate because I am not as excited about the topics of conversation as I am in my communication classes.

A teacher that knew me well was Professor Carey, who taught my Introduction to Communications class. She was a professor who made coming to class easy and used relatable topics in her lectures to get students to stay interested.

If I could build a school, I would want it to be similar to Marquette in that it would be walkable to get to classes in ten minutes or less. I also like that we have the city of Milwaukee and not just a college town with limited opportunities. Another plus is that I live only an hour and a half away, which is comforting to me in case I need to go home for an emergency.

If you asked me why I chose to study communications I think that would be an interesting story. As I said earlier, I was so unsure of what I wanted to study coming into college. I felt rushed to decide on something that I could easily regret because of the ample amount of paths that I could take.

For me, weekends are all about sleeping in and unwinding from all of the responsibilites of being in class. I am a very social person and love to spend time with friends and make new memories. I love to be in the city and go to new restaurants, especially for brunch. Some of my favorite places to go are Collectivo Coffee on the Lakefront for food and a nice place to study, The Public Market for groceries and Spicy Tuna for sushi.

My favorite song right now is titled Hymn For The Weekend by Coldplay. My dad and I listen to Coldplay when we are in the car together and I enjoy their old music the most but I also like their new, more upbeat singles as well.

My brothers and I.
