American Kingdom: Day 2 Notes
Charleston notes for Day 2
Daily notes: Well, I didn’t get out the Story Cubes to work out what was going to happen. Naked people running around shouting at each other would have been fun to write, I guess, but Molly is not that person. There are better ways to fight a battle than by making a frontal charge.
Besides, this story isn’t about Ted and Molly. It’s about Molly.
And Charleston, at least for this chapter. Birthplace of the Civil War in more ways than one. So beautiful. Kudu Coffee is a real place. Quirky and fun and well worth a visit. You want to do something nice for me, show them my picture, tell them Molly sent you, next time I come in I might get a free coffee. Or a smile. Maybe both.
Marion just popped into mind when she was needed. Marion Square, gosh how Freudian is that? Making her into a lawyer fits with the Regency — no, not that Regency, you’ll have to wait for more details — and I backtracked a little to have her do the dollar thing.
Might have to retcon a few things as time goes on. I’m publishing as I write and some of my best ideas are sure to come in the weeks ahead. After sleeping on them, most likely. I can’t look into the future to second-guess my subconscious. If Brian needs to be a tap dancer at some future point, I’ll have to come back and foreshadow it, okay?
In hindsight, Day 8
I’ve enjoyed writing about Charleston. A beautiful city, full of history, heritage, good food, wonderful people. Love it.
Brian and his wife have turned out to be major players, firstly as shoulders for Molly to cry on and then as moral guides.
