“Manis hopes that people who hear Sanderson’s story appreciate that this is about a kid just trying to get an education.” The problem with this story is that we are only hearing one side of this from Sanderson, his family and his lawyer. If everything in the story is accurate AND the school had a non discrimination policy including sexual orientation, then the school deserves to be taken to task. However, it would be interesting to know the school’s side of this. If Sanderson’s actions, following the refusal by the school to bring a male date to the prom, created a disruptive learning environment at the school, by posting on social media, etc., then the school had a right to not allow him to come back. I never fully trust media reports that only give one side of the story.
