4 Quick Ways to Celebrate National Margarita Day
It’s National Margarita Day! Okay, so it’s a made-up holiday; but still a reason to celebrate. No plans? No worries. Call your favorite friends…or not; and make your way to the closest restaurant or bar. If that’s not your preference, celebrate responsibly at home. Whatever works best for you, is the decision. But, before you go…here are my tips to jump start your celebration.
- Margaritas - Frozen or “On the Rocks” - make a choice and stick to it. This is really a personal choice. However, frozen drinks tend to last a little longer as you have to drink them slower or…BRAIN FREEZE.
- To Add a Flavor or Not, that is the Question. You can have the original lime margarita recipe, but why not add a tropical flavor? Spice things up a bit on this national holiday! Popular flavors include strawberry, mango, and peach. Or, venture on the ‘wild side’ and try an exotic variety, such as a Strawberry Jalapeno or the Patron Smoked Sea Salt Margaritas. Live a little!
- Specials for this Special Drink. The best way to celebrate is with a drink, good friends and great food. Many national chains are offering specials for National Margarita Day. Check with your favorite bar or restaurant for availability. However, the following national restaurant chains have advertised deals at their locations (and on social media): On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina, Tony Roma’s and Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville (duh).
- Cupcakes! Adult Cupcakes! Who said margarita mix was for making cocktails only? Think again. Adult beverage-infused cupcakes are the hottest trend in baking (I made that up, but they are popular). Add a sweet twist to your celebration by making a batch of tipsy cupcakes. Here’s a recipe for Strawberry Margarita Cupcakes from AHelicopterMom.com - give it a try.
It doesn’t matter how you choose to celebrate. National Margarita Day will be one for the record books. Grab a group of friends and enjoy the day. Whether your cocktail is frozen or on the rocks, lime or tropical-flavored, you’re sure to unwind and let loose.
