If you are wishing to do something other than the thing that you are doing while thinking about it, you haven't found your It. And until you find it, people will keep telling you what you should do in your life from their own perspective.
I have seen so many people who want to do everything, and at the end of the day, they have nothing to show. You can not do every single thing and master everything. But you can find one thing that makes you feel like, 'oh, that's what I was looking for!' And so you have to keep looking for it until you find it. If you ask people what they want you to become, most will tell what satisfy them the most, for instance, a doctor or a teacher. If you want to become a writer or a comedian, no one counts them as a career, and so they say, 'that's good, but what do you really want to do in your life?'.
I know most of you might not be able to relate it to yourself, but the point I'm trying to make is you can't satisfy everyone but yourself, and that's what is important the most. Because later in life, even if nobody asks you how your life is going on, you will not regret what you have done to make others and society happy. And that's why it is important that you do what you love.
Don’t sit still, move your body.
How to find what you love?
For some people, it's not hard to seek what they love as they get interested in biology or designing or in tech from the first day. But some might fail to do that and enjoy everything or nothing at school or in real life. So here are a few steps that you can take to find what you really love and enjoy.
- Take time: Take a year gap before you get into college and try to do everything that you love and the things that make you happy. Sure enough, you'll have the idea of what you really want to do but do not stop doing and loving what you do just because it takes hard work and sweat. Because then that doesn't only mean that you are doing the worse thing with yourself, but it also shows that you are physically and mentally weak and so you can't handle anything longer in your life.
Don’t do what you don’t love until you find something that you love.
- Write down: If you ask me, what's the best thing you can do? I think about writing, and I mean really just write. But that doesn't also mean that you have to write every single day about anything else, no matter what; no, that's not what I meant here. But the thing I'm trying to say is that if you write, half of your problems will be solved right there. So write what you love and do not love. And ask yourself questions and be genuine with yourself so that you can differentiate between what others want and what you want from yourself.
It’s just a thought that can change you dramatically forever.
- Read books: Reading books will not help you to decide what you should do, but it will definitely help you to determine what you shouldn't do. So, it's like listening to the advice of your elders and then deciding what to do by all yourself. This is what exactly I did when I was seventeen years old before getting into college.
There is no friend as loyal as book.
But sometimes what happens is that we know what we wanna do but don't know the precise way that is going to take or the right planned idea to get where we want. And so we think we will do it the same way as everybody has done that particular thing and take it for granted. But it’s not the same for everybody, as everyone is different in every possible way.
So keep looking, keep digging and keep learning.
