What Is Receding Gums?

Gum tissue that surrounds the teeth can wear away, or pull back, exposing the tooth’s root. This process is called Gum recession.

Receding Gums Is Not Noticeable In Early Stages.

When gum recession occurs, gaps over the gum line make it easy for disease-causing bacteria to build up.

If we leave gum recession untreated, the supporting tissue and bone structures of the teeth can severely be damaged, and ultimately result in tooth loss.

The gums recede by brushing too hard or the wrong way, it can easily cause the gum tissue to wear away.

Some Other Factors Can Also Cause Your Gums To Recede:

  • Your gums bleed when you brush your teeth or even when you eat.
  • Your gums are aching and swollen.
  • You experience toothaches.
  • There are pockets of space surrounding your teeth.
  • You have bad breath.
  • Tartar and plaque buildup on your teeth and gums.

As it is a situation so common that affects so many people, in this article of how to reverse receding gums without surgery, we will explain what indicates bleeding gums and receding gums when brushing so that you can find the cause and solve the problem.

Causes Of The Receding Gums Or Bleeding Gums

The care of the mouth does not only involve the teeth but all the structures that compose it. If you neglect your hygiene, the gums can become ill and produce a condition called gingivitis, which is inflammation of the gum as a result of plaque buildup. When in this state any stimulus can cause the inflamed gums to bleed, being the most common dental brushing. (6)

If Receding gums is not controlled, it can progress to other more complicated forms of periodontal disease, such as periodontists and formation of periodontal Disease, which can also cause bleeding. Learn more about periodontal disease home treatments. Periodontal disease can drain through the gum and form what is known as a gingivitis, through which pus and blood are expelled.

Poor Oral Hygiene, Cause Of Receding Gums

Not all toothbrushes are the same; Some are of softer bristles and others of stiffest bristles. Reverse receding gums from brushing too hard If for example we use a soft brush, and when you buy a new one this is hard bristles, being accustomed to using the previous one we can get to hurt the gum, thus producing a bleeding.

In people who do not floss or some other hygiene element such as inter proximal brushes, and begin to include it in their hygiene routine, it is normal to have to bleed the first few days while the person learns the proper technique of implementation and tissues Adapt to this new element. Poor oral hygiene, cause of receding gums.

Drugs That Cause Receding Gums

There are some medications that can facilitate spontaneous receding gums or while you brush your teeth:

  • The most common in this section are the anticoagulants, which are drugs that dilute the blood and make it, therefore, more fluid, reducing the factors that allow the wound closure. As a result of this, any wound that a person taking anticoagulants suffers has a greater bleeding, and this includes the small wounds due to the brushing.
  • The contraceptive may cause receding gums due to hormonal changes that alter the normal condition of the gum. (7)
  • Another type of medication in this section, but which produce bleeding less frequently, is anticoagulants, which after prolonged use can cause enlarged gums that may be accompanied by bleeding.
  • Drugs that are used in chemo-therapies can cause as a side effect inflammation of the gums and ulcers in the mouth, making the person more prone to spontaneous bleeding and receding gums. (8)

Physiological Changes

Different changes in our organism can lead to an increase in blood flow to the gums or produce inflammation through different mechanisms. In this case, women are especially susceptible because of the large number of hormonal changes they suffer in the different stages of their life, such as puberty, menstruation, pregnancy and menopause.

The stress continued also causes increased blood flow and impaired immune response. Therefore gums are more likely to catch fire.

Lack Of Food

The deficiencies of vitamin C and K in the diet can increase the risk of receding gums. Reverse receding gums Vitamin C: Vitamin C contributes to a good development of the cells of the gums, the reason why its deficiency compromises the structural integrity of the gum. On the other hand, vitamin K contributes to the setting process, therefore, indispensable for the healing of wounds that may be present in the mouth and reverse receding gums naturally.

The main disease usually associated with bleeding gums is leukemia, which is a form of blood cancer that can cause bleeding of the gum and other parts of the body. (9)

Natural Ways To Reverse Receding Gums

As we have said in the beginning, this is a situation we all spend at some point in our life, that is, most of the time it does not have a serious cause. Receding gum line treatment The very important of all is always to maintain good oral hygiene habits to reduce the chances of starting receding gums or periodontist, brushing the recommended times and implementing dental floss and mouthwashes in the oral hygiene routine and reverse receding gums at home.

Control visits should be maintained with our dentist at least once every six months. He is the person indicated to determine the definitive cause of the bleeding and to advise us when said bleeding is accompanied by pain, bad smells or any other symptom. The dentist can offer you dental cleaning sessions to decrease the amount of plaque and calculus on the surface of the teeth and thus decrease the inflammation of the gums.

What Is Gum Disease Receding Gums?

By gum disease, we mean an inflammation of the gums, which is an advanced stage can lead to damage to the jaw. Gum disease is caused by the bacteria in plaque: a sticky, colorless film that is constantly deposited on your teeth. If you do not remove dental plaque by brushing and flossing daily, the plaque can multiply, and the bacteria will infect not only the gums and teeth but also the jawbone in which the teeth are stuck. This allows teeth and molars to come loose or fall out.

What Is Dental Plaque?

Dental plaque is a soft deposit that forms on the surface of your teeth. It contains different types of bacteria. Usually, you can easily remove plaque by brushing your teeth and flossing. It sticks to teeth firmly. In most cases, it can only be removed by a dentist with special instruments.

If any area of your mouth bleeds, you need to focus on it more to get rid of the bacteria. Most people tend to take a step back, but that’s the opposite of what you should do.

Gum Disease Goes Through Three Stages:

Gingivitis: This is the first stage, consisting of a gum disease that is caused by the formation of plaque on the gum line. This is called dental plaque-related gum disease. If the plaque is not removed by daily brushing and flossing, toxic (toxic) substances are created that irritate the gum tissue. This causes gingivitis. Maybe a slight bleeding occurs during brushing or flossing. At this initial stage, the damage can still be undone, since the bone and connective tissue through which the teeth are held in place has not yet been affected.

Periodontitis: Peridontitis literally means ‘inflammation around the tooth.’ It occurs when gingivitis gets worse and spreads to the tissue that connects the teeth with and the underlying bone. As a result of periodontitis, there is a space between the tooth and the gums. Without treatment, the tooth can slowly loosen and eventually fall out.

At this stage, irreversible damage has already been caused to the bone and tissue in which the teeth are contained. The gums sometimes form a cavity under the gum line, in which food remains, and plaque accumulates. With the right treatment by a dentist and improved dental care, further damage can usually still be prevented.

Advanced periodontitis: In this final stage, the tissue and jaw bone around your teeth are destroyed, allowing teeth and molars to shift or loosen. This can affect your “bite.” If aggressive treatments can no longer benefit, teeth may have to be pulled.

How Does Dental Plaque And Inflammation Caused By Gum Disease?

It Is Very Common. Research From The Late 90’s Showed That:

· Plaque was visible in just over 40% of children between 15 to18 years.

· A degree of gingivitis was present in more than half of all adults and in about 40% of children between 15 to18 years.

Periodontitis with space formation were present in half of all adults and in almost 20% of children between 15–18 years. Most cases of periodontitis were ‘moderate,’ with spaces up to 4–5 mm. In 8% of adults, however, severe periodontitis was observed, with spaces of 6 mm or deeper.

How Common Are Plaque, Gum Disease, And Periodontitis?

Everybody has millions of germs (bacteria) in their mouths. Within a few minutes of tooth brushing, plaque will start to develop on the tooth surfaces. In less than 24 hours the layer of plaque that forms will usually be thick enough to see on the teeth. This is why dental advice is to brush twice a day, morning and night. This removes the plaque deposits before they have become very large and had a chance to damage the teeth and gums. Attendance for regular check-ups will allow your dentist to assess how effectively you are cleaning your teeth and provide oral hygiene advice and support if necessary.

Gum Disease Receding Gums

Everybody who allows plaque deposits to remain on their teeth and gums for more than two or three days will develop gingivitis. The severity of the condition will vary according to the size, age and distribution of the plaque deposits as well as the oral health and general health of the individual. Many people brush their teeth fairly well but do not clean between their teeth with floss or interdental brushes. Most people who floss for the first time find that their gums bleed a lot. This is very common because they are disturbing the plaque and parts of the gum that have not been cleaned properly for a long time.

After a week of flossing twice a day, the bleeding will usually stop. This is because the gums have had a chance to heal because they are not being irritated by plaque between the teeth anymore.

Fortunately, unlike gingivitis, periodontitis will not affect everybody. Some people can have inflamed gums for years and experience little or no permanent damage to their periodontal tissues. However, the effects and consequences of periodontitis can be very severe in those who do have it. Approximately 50% of adults will have one or two areas of minor pocketing, and approximately 15% of adults are susceptible to developing moderate-to-severe periodontitis.

What Is The Cause Of Gum Disease Receding Gums?

Most people have a certain degree of plaque, but not everyone leads to inflammation. Dental plaque contains various types of bacteria, and some bacteria are associated with gingival infections. It is assumed that a more severe form of gum disease, which leads to periodontitis, is more likely to develop if you have a lot of plaque or your resistance to bacteria is reduced in one way or another.

The Following Cases Increase The Risk Of A More Severe Form Of Inflamed Gums:

· Poor oral hygiene which causes a lot of dental plaque and bacteria to accumulate.

· Smoking — this can affect your resistance to gum disease.

· If you have a bad immune system, for example, if you have a disease, you see your immune system less effective, or if you are being treated with chemotherapy, etc.

· If you have diabetes.

What Are The Symptoms Of Gum Disease?

Slight gum disease does not cause symptoms, so you may not realize that you have it. The gums look slightly swollen and red.

Moderate gum disease can cause more severe swelling and redness of the gums. The gums often bleed a bit when brushing teeth. If you only have gingivitis, the chance is small that your gums feel painful.

Periodontitis often causes no symptoms until the affected tooth loosens. In some cases, it is possible that one or more of the following symptoms occur:

· Halitosis bad breath

· A bad taste in the mouth

· A little pus in the spaces between teeth and gums

· Pain and burden when eating

· The affected teeth loosen and eventually fall out without treatment

How Do I Know If I Have Gum Disease Receding Gums?

Gum disease can happen at any age, but are more common in adults. If a gum disease is recognized at an early stage, there is still something to be done. So go to the dentist if you recognize one of the following symptoms:

• Red, swollen, puffy or sensitive gums

• Gums that bleed during brushing or flossing

• Teeth that appear to be longer because the gums recede

• Gums that have become detached from the tooth or molar, resulting in a cavity

• A change in the connection between upper and lower teeth during biting

• The formation of pus between the teeth and the gums

• Persistent bad breath or bad taste in the mouth.

Can I Reverse Receding Gums?

Good oral hygiene reduces the amount of plaque and helps to prevent inflammation. It also reduces the chance of cavities. Good oral hygiene means:

Brush your teeth — for two minutes at least twice a day. Research shows that electric toothbrushes work better than regular toothbrushes.

Floss your teeth at least three times a week to remove plaque between your teeth.

Regularly check with the dentist. A dentist can remove excess plaque and calcification. He can also diagnose and treat an early or mild form of gingivitis, preventing it from developing into periodontitis,

If you smoke, it is advisable to stop smoking.

Can Receding Gums Be Reversed Naturally?

These measures are generally sufficient. However, some people also use antiseptic mouthwash every day to prevent inflammation.

What Is The Treatment For Receding Gums?

The measures described above are often sufficient to deal with mild gum disease. If the condition is more severe, your dentist can also advise you to use an antiseptic mouthwash and an antiseptic toothpaste gel or spray. All these help in killing bacteria and heal inflammation of the gums.

How To Reverse Receding Gums At Home?

Gum disease is a periodontal disease in which the gums and the tissue around the teeth are inflamed. It is difficult to identify it in the first phase, and it may well be that you do not even notice that you have this condition until the gums swell and start bleeding easily when brushing teeth or eating an apple, for example.
