Introducing Vector Networks

Thanks Ian Johnson for pointing to this interesting article. It’s great to see advances like this in this space.

As Bret Victor said in http://worrydream.com/MagicInk/ making good manipulation software is real hard and not a lot of advance happened for decades. For example, SVG is not exactly new and there are tools that can export to SVG or even use it as their native format, but I’m not aware of a drawing program which

  1. lets me create elements, and groups of elements (so far so good) and
  2. allows the transform (translate, rotate, skew, scale, matrix) the group such that only the <g> group element attribute is being altered.

I.e. unless I overlooked some tools, there’s no obvious editor program that would make accessible one of the most basic ideas about SVG.

We could go on and on, most widespread software tools seem to be in violation of the ‘it would be unimaginable if…’ spirit of https://vimeo.com/71278954
