If you are not familiar with the Myers-Briggs Indicator Type test

You can do some research on websites such as Myersbriggs.org or 16personalities.com. Although I would suggest beginning with the former, as the latter can be somewhat a caricature of the whole thing.

According to Myersbriggs.org, “the essence of the theory is that much seemingly random variation in the behavior is actually quite orderly and consistent, being due to basic differences in the ways individuals prefer to use their perception and judgment.”

Basically, it is a mechanism to help organize human cognitive functions to form a pretty little picture of how we make decisions, and base our conclusions as individuals. While it is not a proven science, it sure does get eerily accurate.

When I first came across the test online, it seemed arbitrary. You essentially answer about 60 questions which ultimately decide how your brain and subconscious work, but what if you’re not feeling like you that day? Maybe you’ve dealt with a hardship that’s changed your outlook. Hell, maybe you’ve just been out drinking with some friends, and someone forced you to take this test out of curiosity for your type the next day and you feel like a truck ran you over.
