Unconditional Love
simple, but complex
Unconditional…It’s easy for me to give my definition of the word unconditional. To me, the word simply means; without condition. Webster’s online dictionary defines unconditional as not limited in any way : complete and absolute.
But Knowing what that word means and putting it into practice are too very different things. This is what I am learning as I move thorugh my life. For instance, we hear the term “unconditonal love” thrown around like it’s nothing, like it’s simple. But to love someone unconditionally, without condition seems, I don’t know….crazy. And in reality, how many of us are really capable of giving unconditional love? Can human beings really ever love without condition? Don’t we all have our limits? Don’t we all have lines that we won’t or shouldn’t let others cross? Once you declare unconditional love for someone or something, is that decisional final? People change…wants, needs, desires, hopes they change too. But the definition suggests that as an individual changes, it should not affect their ability to love unconditionally. Is declaring unconditional love for someone or something required or is it more of an action? This concept…it boggles my mind… Unconditional Love…simple explanation, but a complex concept…
