My name is Monique.
I recently relocated from New York to Pittsburgh. I’m currently pursuing my Master’s in Interaction Design at Carnegie Mellon.
I’m originally from the Bay Area moved around quite a bit when I was younger. I’ve lived in multiple States and even abroad in Belgium and Hong Kong. These experiences have helped shape how I view the world and have made me into somewhat of a cultural chameleon.
I moved to New York 10 years ago to attend Parsons School of Design. I majored in Strategic Design and Management and Thinking which provided me with a strong foundation in the design process, human centered research and visual design.
I’ve spent most of my professional career in luxury goods marketing. Most recently, I served as the Advertising & Creative Services Manager at Vera Wang. While there, I began to notice a shift in the retail industry. I started to see a new breed of retailer emerge — one that adopted business models that spoke both to corporate and social goals.
I’ve become fascinated with the idea of leveraging design and technology to help companies not only create better products, but to improve the communities in which they operate as well. I hope to further explore this space during my time at Carnegie Mellon.
