They could also cherry pick gas stations (since most are independently owned) and have already mastered the science of placement/location. They could then clean-up and augment on a case-by-case basis spending more money on amenities in heavily trafficked locations — much like gas stations along the highways in Europe or here in the states that are run under contract at US National Parks.
They could also leverage gas station owners against each other. If one won’t sell just walk across the street.
Last, they could benefit from the fact that the conversion could be gradual, allowing a mix of gas and electric cars to use the station until one overtakes the other.
