Regarding the relay, if you are driving small loads then it should be fine without a heatsink. As anecdotal evidence, I use mine to drive 3 x LED bulbs (8.5 Watt each x 3 ~= 25 Watts) daily and the relay is cool to touch. In your use case, it will depend on how long the Christmas lights are (how…
