The shout-out choice was inspired by the Oxford English Dictionary‘s Word of the Day: dumb phone, which is,
“Any of various types of phone without smart technology; (now) spec. a mobile phone that lacks the advanced functionality typically characteristic of a smartphone, such as a touch-screen interface, camera, and internet access.”
