An Unfinished Draft: The Hide-Out

I’ve enjoyed my time alone.

Tucked back in the shadows

of my own detached world.

Up here above the trees,

where I can always see.

I could fly this place to the moon.

Back home. . .

It’s been dark lately.

Very little sunlight

slips through the blinds.

I step out once or twice a day.

Only for a moment.

Just to remember

why I stay inside. . .

Sometimes humans visit.

They come and use my drugs.

And then they go. . .
