To the Girl Who Left her Job to Travel,

I see your Facebook wall and I’m struck with a deluge of emotions ranging from jealousy to awe. You’re only a year older than me and you’re already living a life that I have always only dreamt of.

Sometimes, when I’m feeling down in the dumps, I scroll through your pictures that narrate the anecdotes of the journey you’ve been on. Sometimes, I envision myself in your shoes and for those few moments, much like a child, I’m lost in the adventures of your fantasy world.

And then I wonder how many tears are hidden behind that riveting smile. I wonder what consequences were brought upon by the decision to leave everything behind and take the road less traveled. I wonder what and who all you lost along the path while you searched and discovered the new. I wonder whether I’d have the courage to walk down a similar road if given the chance.

I wonder whether you’d hold my hand and take me along the next time. Would you?
