5 4 5 Day 2

Yesterday I completed my first 5 4 5 project sent in by someone who used my website! So exciting. Here is the prompt in it’s entirety:

My idea is “do something in the nude” you could pose for a painting, go grocery shopping, or exercise. The idea is to desexualize the naked body. :slightly_smiling_face: Good luck and have fun!

This was the first prompt I received after sharing my website so I felt that I HAD to do it. What this person didn’t know is, when I’m at home I spend a significant amount of time naked. I live alone. BUT I have also never done a self portrait of myself naked. It has been a long time since I did a self portrait of any kind. Selfies don’t count, for reasons I’m not going to get into here.

Having made the decision to use this opportunity to create my first nude self portrait, I had to go for a run.

After:

It was hot. I LOATHE taking pictures of myself clothed, so I need to feel good about myself before venturing into this new territory. And don’t worry, there will be no n00dz posted here.

I didn’t feel it was enough for me to take photos of myself naked and post them on the internet, there are much more interesting ways to go about this. Using P5 I loaded the image and began to distort it. I used the P5 image tutorial to start. The result was something I liked quite a lot! Here’s a portion of the portrait.

This somehow still didn’t feel like a comfortable place for me to stop with this project. I also didn’t want to just post this on the internet and call it day, if strangers are going to see me naked they’re going to have to put in some more effort, or be my neighbor. Whatever.

Sol LeWitt was stuck in my head after Wednesday’s class so I let it take me a bit further. I decided to make posters of the html, and javascript code I used to execute this portrait. If a person wants to see the portrait they would have to buy the posters, execute the code perfectly, and send it to me for verification before I sent them the file containing my self portrait. This was an amount of effort I was satisfied with for someone to be sent an unedited nude photo of me. Below are the two posters.

On to day 3!
