Introducing RideTap: moovel’s New Connected Transportation Network

We’re excited to officially announce the launch of RideTap, our software development kit (SDK) and network that will change the future of mobility with one easy integration. Instead of opening numerous different apps to find and book real-time transportation options, your ride choices will now be easily accessible in the apps you’re already using on the daily.

Essentially, RideTap is the glue that connects the growing number of public and private transportation options together.

Beginning today, we’re launching our RideTap pilot in Portland, Oregon with car2go, Lyft and TriMet, Portland’s public transit agency. Portland transit users now have the ability to use the navigation menu in the TriMet Tickets app to locate a nearby Lyft or car2go and easily get to and from their closest public transit stop.

We’re thrilled to pilot our RideTap technology with early partners TriMet, car2go and Lyft, innovative transportation organizations that are changing the way people get around in Portland and beyond.

The RideTap SDK is an evolution of RideScout app, as it allows apps to offer multimodal, real-time transportation to their users. It also creates opportunities for app developers, ride providers and transit agencies to literally tap into each other’s services and expand the potential for mobile transportation.

Those using apps with RideTap installed will easily find nearby rides based on real-time proximity at any given moment. Transit apps can install RideTap to solve common first and last mile issues while a city discovery app or local business can integrate the SDK to help its users get to their final destination.

moovel believes that RideTap will make getting around easier for everyone. From the seasoned commuter, to the driver who is tired of sitting in traffic in their car everyday, to the people who live miles from their nearest transit stop, to the tourists who are unfamiliar with a city — RideTap will provide them choices when it comes to transportation.
