A Paradise called Chacala

Have you ever wondered what paradise looks like? Well, I can give you some ideas and the ingredients for the perfect recipe.

First of all, you’ll need a lovely beach, hopefully with palm trees (other types of trees might work as well but let’s agree they don’t have the same vibe) and white sand. This is a crucial element.

Then, you’ll need sunny days most of the time and if it’s hot and humid that's even better. I’d say the perfect spot would be in the middle of the jungle. Also, a huge storm (thunders, lightning, and rain) from time to time would make the whole scenario perfect while being there. Although, this should be at night so the next morning you’ll have lovely sunrays over your head again.

Let's not forget the sunsets. They must be spectacular. You’ll need to see the sun sinking in the sea and the colors have to be orangeish and pinkish or something in between, so they must look exactly like a postcard.

Also, mosquitoes and huge insects have to be part of the scene. You will be lucky too if you’re able to see a giant black moth flying around. This part might not be fun though because you’ll probably get some or many mosquito bites or you might be scared of seeing a giant black butterfly that looks like a bat but unfortunately, this is part of the deal. You’ll need to bring extra mosquito repellent.

Apart from the sea, you’ll need a pool right outside your door. The pool needs to be facing the sea and the sunsets, of course! This is because you could have a cold beer while you relax inside the water. It’s safer for the kids too. You just sit there and you can watch them enjoy.

It’s important to mention that the place you’re staying in has to be nice. The art hanging on the walls needs to be made with love and by an artist. The art must be unique. Not just a painting from Home Depot.

On the other hand, you don't have to make your bed or clean your bedroom because not one but two nice ladies will make it for you. You need to feel you’re in a 5-star hotel. But even better because this place is private.

After you have all that set (scenery and place) another essential item takes place. Food! The food will have to be homemade and typical of the country. Your only job here will be to decide what you want to eat every day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) and the nice ladies will prepare them for you.

Don't forget the snacks (botanas) They play an important role because as you’re in paradise you can’t eat chips and nuts. That would be too obvious and ordinary. Even boring. No, you’ll need to eat tropical fruits every single day and if you want to accompany this with a cold beer or wine, that would be lovely.

So, remember, you’ll only have to think of what you want to eat. That would be your only responsibility in the kitchen.

If your kids are tired of swimming (which by the way they never do) or they need to take a break from the sun, you’ll need a TV with internet (basically YouTube) so they could watch something while you hang out or nap.

Having all of the above settled you’re about to have everything you’ll need to be enjoying paradise but something is missing. Friends!

Yes, being there with your friends is imperative. You could have great adult conversations, and big laughs, and spend a grand time with them. You’ll get to know them better while you thank them and thank life for being there.

Don’t forget the board games while you enjoy more “botanas” and more beer and wine. Of course, you could ask your friend for a margarita and he’ll be happy to prepare it for you.

Once you have all of these elements, you are ready to enjoy paradise.

The good news is this place exists and it is called Chacala which is located in Mexico.

The better news is that our friends invited us there to spend a week with them in paradise and for that, we’ll be forever grateful.

We had an amazing time!

Thank you, my friends!
