Yes! Great observation, another in the growing chain of social and emotional aspects of software development. You’re right to note the stress that comes when your interests diverge from the thing you’ve done before. At some point you don’t want to be that person anymore, you’ve grown apart from it.
While GitHub has brought out many new social tools and makes it easy to share and talk about what’s been written, there’s a part of the software lifecycle that is missing. Software dies too, and it can be hard to know whether that’s happened with something we’ve just found. It can be hard to admit that to ourselves about something we made a few years ago.
