Everyone here signed a contract on their own free will for life-changing money.

A best bargain for one party of a transaction usually means a raw deal for the other party. And while these players signed their extensions of their own free will, lets not pretend that the MLB grants anything resembling an even playing table when it comes to negotiating these deals. The number of promising young players out of the league before their six years of service time far outweighs the rare star we see make it to free agency.
