Those are quick examples. They don’t eliminate the good things the EPA has done, but are you honestly telling me that our government bureaucracies are transparent and accountable? Cause that is the problem I have with them. They can get caught doing horrific things and people don’t get fired, and worse the culture doesn’t change. That leads to a ton of public anger and resentment and it isn’t fair to the hard working people within our government who are dedicating their lives to making a difference.

I expect a certain about of fraud, waste and abuse. I don’t want the government poisoning our water, and then covering it up. I don’t want them ignoring the issues that come up.

I agree that you cannot simply cut funding to an agency and expect it to perform better. That is indeed idiotic. However you can hold agencies accountable to higher performance standards, and tie their funding to meeting those standards. For that to work, you need to be willing to properly fund them, and for that to happen, you have to have transparency across the bureaucracy, not just in individuals agencies.

I feel you set the bar a little low if you are willing to give social security a pass just because they get most checks out to people on time.

I feel like they should also do more to prevent fraud, reduce waste, and be transparent so we can address issues with sustainability so we don’t suddenly screw millions of Americans out of their benefits because we were unwilling to address the shortfall in funding.

Also, upgrading their technology to standards of this century would also be a plus. For profit business are forced to do that to stay competitive, remain secure, and you know because it is efficient and saves money. Government agencies lag behind cause they are run well?
