Technological Influence On Society Today
I wouldn’t be wrong if I said that cell phones are one of the greatest inventions of the human race. Co-founder of Apple, Steve Jobs invented the first iPhone in 2007 which, you could argue, would be one of the most prominent influences on popular culture today. When you look at how technology has influenced popular culture, it’s not the inventions that are most important, but the way our society has adopted them into our everyday lives. Not only did Apple come out with a smartphone that would change the ways we communicate today, they invented a gadget that would contain many things we use on a daily basis and ultimately shape humanity as we know it.
Across the world, you are guaranteed to find someone using some sort of smartphone, the majority being an iPhone. It allows you to browse the internet, listen to music, check social media and even talk to relatives in a completely different time zone. Apple has made daily activities like going to the bank, reading an email, getting directions, and checking the weather all at the tips of your fingers. It has revolutionized the face of technology as we know it. The iPhone allows you to download apps from the App Store that are convenient for you. And without the app store, we wouldn’t have a lot things that contribute to popular culture today. You wouldn’t be able to find a ride with Uber, watch movies on your phone through Netflix, stream music with Spotify, and even post pictures on Instagram. These are all things that influence popular culture today.
Apple invented a device that would transform our society in numerous ways over the last two decades. The iPhone has changed our ways of living completely. Some things wouldn’t even exist, like Uber, Instagram, or Snapchat. We no longer have to use a computer to look up things like directions or the weather forecast. Most people these days would be lost without their smartphone. Almost everyone can agree that smartphones, particularly the iPhone, has been a big foundation in forming popular culture today.
