Citizen journalism is easy to participate In. Mostly because technology is advancing and people are still very nosey. You put the two together and you have yourself a citizen journalist. Not really but you get the picture. It’s a normal person who collects news and information just like a civic journalist.

The only problem I have with citizen journalism is that people go to school for years to learn and become great journalist and these regular people are just walking up take a few pictures, come up with a cool story and that’s it. No technique or style. If I were a journalist I would be pretty mad. A reason I would say it is a good thing is because some people have a true passion for it and are actually really great at it. Maybe they weren’t able to go to school for some reason. This is a great opportunity for that citizen to get out and do what they love without and contracts or obligations.

Another reason that it could be useful is the simple fact that many journalist aren’t at the right place at the right time. This is where citizen journalism comes in. They can easily take out their phone and record what they see. A lot of ammeter videos have made it to the news which can tell a lot about a crime scene and will actually be useful for the system.

Over all I understand that no matter what, people who are not journalist will always find a way to create a story whether they mean to or not. It’s just about what they do with it and how they relay the message.
