Why Mindset is So Important for Sales
The most important thing everyone should know in the sales industry is having a positive mindset. As a SDR (Sales Development Representative) I have to make sure daily that I am putting positive thoughts into my mind. If you do not have a positive mindset, than you will not be able to accomplish the goals that you want to hit. In every organization everything always start from the top.
For example, a CEO controls the culture that they want to implement for the company. The same procedure is identical to mindset, if your mindset is not prepared to win and dominate than your body will not take action to get results! The mind is very important and it needs to be treated with great care.
In this article, I will dive into three things you can start doing today to get a better mindset.
1. Listen to Audios in the Car
The audio system in your car is not just for music. You can use your car as a Mobile University as I would like to call it and listen to audio tapes, inspirational speeches and even listen to your cold calls like I do. Every morning I listen to something that can give me an edge for the day. If you are not always learning about something than you will fall behind in the game and not set yourself up for success.
2. Surround Yourself With Positive People
I cannot stress this enough. You MUST surround yourself with positive people because if you have negative people around you they will suck the positivity out of you. I like to call these people Negativity Vampires because they suck all of the life out of you and leave you in a negative mindset. Find the right people to be around, so that you can have a positive mindset to win and dominate your space.
My last point is very simple. Read. No, it does not mean you have to read a 300 page book every single day. It means read an article about your industry, read a sales article on how to get better at your craft or even read an interview with an expert in your space. All of these reading materials will equip you with a positive mindset because you are learning more to put yourself in a winning position. Most people have negative thoughts about their situation because they are not willing to read to give themselves a positive outlook on their life.
As I stated before, mindset is the one of the most important aspects in sales. You cannot let rejection, bad weeks and negative thoughts affect your play out in the sales field. Equip yourself with the positive mindset that you will be prepared everyday to win and if you do not win that week than you have a new week to dominate next time. Invest in your mind because whatever the mind can conceive the brain can achieve!
