Cory O’Brien — Zeus Grants Stupid Wishes: A No-Bullshit Guide to World Mythology

I see a lot of people acting like the only reason you wouldn’t like this book is if you’re easily offended delicate teardrop.

Nah. I’m an angry feminist today for sure but I grew up telling jokes that would make most racists cry, before I learned better, so I’m not sad about the religious disrespect, the myth retelling, hell, I’m not even upset about the sexism. (Ok, I’m a bit upset about the sexism just because I will never understand supposedly straight men who shit on women who enjoy sex but anyway.)

Honestly the one thing I didn’t like about this book is the 300,000,000 (idk what number that is) dick jokes. AND I KNOW the myths were all really sexual in nature but after the 100,000,000th joke I was getting a bit tired of it, the 200,000,000 I was SUPER DUPER FUCKING TIRED and by the end I was pretty convinced the writer simply had no other jokes in his repertoire. Dicks are funny, women are slutty, hahaha, nothing else.

That said, the myths themselves were fun to read about but I’d like someone bit a better sense of humor — or a wider range of it anyway — to give this another try.
